Bhimrao Ramji
Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 6 December 1956), also
known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist
movement and campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables. He was independent India's first law and
justice minister, the major architect of the Constitution of India.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's father's name was Ramji Maloji Sakpal and mother's Bhimabai. Born as the fourteenth child of his parents, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was a born genius.
Bhimrao Ambedkar's childhood name was Ramji Sakpal. Ambedkar's ancestors worked in the army of the British East India Company for a long time and his father was in the Mau cantonment of the British Indian Army. Among his brothers and sisters, only Ambedkar succeeded in the school examination and after that he was able to go to the big school. At the behest of one of his patriotic Brahmin teachers Mahadev Ambedkar who had special affection for him, Ambedkar removed Sakpal from his name and added Ambedkar which was based on his village name "Ambavade".
During an exploited class conference on August 8, 1930, Ambedkar presented his political vision to the world, according to which the protection of the exploited class is in being independent from both his government and the Congress.
Despite his controversial views, and bitter criticism of Gandhi and the Congress, Ambedkar's reputation was that of a unique scholar and jurist due to which, after the independence of India on August 15, 1947, a new Congress-led government came into existence. Invited to serve as the country's first law minister, which he accepted. On 29 August 1947, Ambedkar was appointed to the post of the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee for the creation of the new Constitution of independent India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution.
On October 14, 1956, Ambedkar organized a formal public function for himself and his supporters in Nagpur. Ambedkar received Buddhism from a Buddhist monk by adopting three gems and Panchasheel in the traditional way. Ambedkar was suffering from diabetes since 1948. He remained very ill from June to October 1954, during which he was suffering from clinical depression and weakening eyesight. Ambedkar ji died on 6 December 1956.
In 1990, posthumously, Dr. Ambedkar was awarded the " Bharat Ratna " , the highest civilian award in the country.
